Feb. 2, 2012: Lo/Ovral 28 Recalled.
 
Lo/Ovral 28 and generics were recalled by the manufacturer - Pfizer.  Around 1 million packs were recalled. The recall is being conducted because the pills were out of order. While on birth control, women take placebo pills during their period. In the recall, Pfizer stated that the placebo pills may have inadvertently been placed with the regular hormone pills. Women who would take placebo pills for three days straight may run the risk of pregnancy.
 
Jan. 18, 2012: Generic version of Yaz released.
Watson Pharmaceuticals announced that its subsidiary Watson Pharma, Inc. has launched Vestura(TM) (3 mg drospirenone and 0.02 mg ethinyl estradiol), a generic version of Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals Inc.'s Yaz(R) oral contraceptive product. 
 
May 2011: Yaz Continues to Face Criticism for Potential Risk of Blood Clots.
 
Demands for Yaz recalls continue due to research that indicates that the risk of blood clots is substantially higher with the pill.
